The original Halle Heart Center was envisioned in the 1990’s by a notable group of community leaders, including Diane and Bruce Halle. Founder and Chairman of Discount Tire, Bruce Halle enthusiastically led the charge. "I have always been concerned about heart disease, as my mother had it”, Bruce said. The Halle family’s initial gift became the cornerstone of the campaign to bring the museum to fruition.
Through the unfailing generosity of the Phoenix Heart Ball donors, the Heart Center was rebirthed and the 16,000 sq. ft. Halle Heart Children’s Museum was opened in January 2011.
The HHCM is the nation's only children's museum dedicated to heart health and creates an educational, interactive and contemporary museum experience for children of all ages to increase awareness and prevent cardiovascular diseases. Through activity stations like "Kids on the Move", The Marketplace, Stay on Course and the Café, the Museum empowers children to make lifestyle choices that will create a new generation of healthy kids.
Now after many years of providing education for students on field trips, we are so pleased to be open to the general public. An estimated 35,000 visitors are expected to attend the Halle Heart Children's Museum this year.
