Ingrid has lived in the Valley since 1982. She came to Phoenix to practice medicine, after completing a residency in Massachusetts, and had a successful Obstetrics and Gynecology practice with the last 15 years focusing on gynecologic surgery. She retired from the practice in 2011, but not from medicine.
Since her retirement from her surgical career, Ingrid continues to stay active in the medical community. She is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Arizona Medical School and continues to consult for the Arizona Medical Board which she has done since 2005 after having served as a Board member.
Ingrid’s desire to be involved in the community began early after moving to Phoenix. She became a board member with Planned Parenthood soon after arriving in town. In 1995 she was asked to become a board member with the Scottsdale Memorial Health Foundation (now Honor Health) and served until 2004. In 2002, Ingrid co-chaired the Honor Ball which raised funds for the hospital and its programs. Another invitation led her to join the Desert Foundation Auxiliary Board in 2001. She served as ball chair for the DFA Debutante Ball in 2010 and took associate status in 2014. In addition, she has participated in the American Cancer Society Annual Gala raising funds for the ACS and is currently a member of the Arizona Women’s Board supporting work with kidney disease. Ingrid has received numerous awards locally and nationally including the Best Doctors in America recognition and the Who’s Who lifetime achievement award.
The invitation to join the Phoenix Heart Ball committee came in 2010. Ingrid is honored to be included in this amazing group since then and especially to serve as vice chair this year. The goal to conquer heart disease can be reached by supporting the American Heart Association and its life saving programs. The funds raised by the Phoenix Heart Ball are dedicated to that end.
Ingrid is married to Charlie Van Dyke. Her two daughters are successfully launched in their own careers. Kristen Hendricks Swain (36) is a litigation attorney, now in Boston, who has followed her passion by starting her own photography business. Lauren Hendricks (31) received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) and is practicing medicine in Scottsdale.
