Together, we are relentlessly focused on the heart of our community. Through the Heart of Phoenix and Heart Ball campaign, we celebrate our collective success in driving change, funding science and improving behaviors – no matter where, or how, we gather. That means taking our efforts beyond the ballroom, working every day to help every heart.
In 1959 when the Phoenix Heart Ball was introduced to the community, research for pacemakers, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and bypass surgery was just getting underway. These cardiac advances, along with many of the lifesaving programs we take for granted today, have been made possible by the generosity of the Phoenix Heart Ball donors and philanthropic community partners. Currently, the Phoenix Heart Ball supports preventative and instructional programs designed to educate children on nutrition and exercise; to teach adults about risk factors and cholesterol reduction; and to alert the community about how to recognize the signs of heart attack and stroke. Funds raised by the Phoenix Heart Ball also support research and scientific discoveries that advance the diagnosis, care and treatment of heart disease and stroke.
The Heart Ball Committee is comprised of approximately one hundred outstanding business, civic, community and philanthropic women from across the Valley. Heart Ball Committee participation is by invitation only and each year the committee forms anew. These talented and notable leaders work throughout the year for heart health as ambassadors of the American Heart Association.
For sixty-three years, prominent Valley volunteer leaders have chaired the Phoenix Heart Ball Committee. Collectively, the Past Heart Ball Chairmen remain active, functioning as a governing board and lending their support and guidance to the incoming Chairman. The Phoenix Heart Ball is greatly admired and envied for its outstanding group of Past Chairmen, Past Sweethearts and Past Honorary Chairmen.
